One of the things that helped me considerably, was getting to know a new Red Hat Society Queen that i met in a local garden and gift boutique. She explained that many others in similar situations were also signing up and would i like to join in the FUN?
YES!!! It was the medicine I needed. To meet other women who had not only gone through menopause, but had survived to tell about it!
That was the beginning of my journey into Red Hat Society.
At first I felt timid. Yes, me! I was shy and timid. The idea of putting on Red and Purple and go out into the public horrified me. LOL However, I gained great strength in numbers. Pretty soon, I decided that it was great FUN... and if it could do as much as it had done for me, how wonderful would it be to do the same for others. Thus, with the blessings of my Queen, I began my own Chapter.
I truly loved All my ladies in my Chapter. They are all amazing women who blended so well together. It was as if we had been true life sisters from the beginning. I decided this is truly about "Sisters at Heart".
We had wonderful years together, but when RHS reached out to me and asked if I would become one of their Ambassadors, I knew I would not be able to do both successfully. Joy Comstock volunteered to take my group over and become a Queen. I believe that she is a wonderful Queen and I am proud she has continued to keep the ladies together.
Shortly there after, my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He jumped on the disease and attacked it with radiation therapy. He is a very very strong man and he appears to have beat it into submission. Then..... this last Christmas eve, he received the results from a bladder biopsy. Cancer, once again had reared its ugly head.
This time they decided to just remove it and see what type it is and see if it grows back. Personally I feel that is a very laid back approach to cancer. However, he trusts and believes in his doctor. I only pray he is right. It is now 5 months later and so far so good. I just keep saying my prayers.
As for me, I have continued on my new journey as being an Ambassador for RHS. My primary purpose is to provide information to old and new members. Also to assist other ladies in joining. Helping them signup on the RHS official website and helping them if they wish to find a local group and or become a Queen.
I do miss my own girls however, I am discovering there are many many other ladies that I feel very close to.
I am free to travel a bit more and with each new event I attend, my heart is filled with such joy and love from so many of my Red Hat Sisters.
I am planning on continuing on this journey and see where it leads me. I know some of this information may have been a bit much information to share, however, how else do you get to know someone if they do not share at least a few of their personal experiences.
Please feel free to post here for others to read. LOL
My Red Hat off to YOU!
